25 TIPS FOR BACKPACKING ALL OVER EUROPE.

Here are just 25 great and short tips for budget trips all over Europe. These are also my special 25 coolest destinations to visit. You won´t regret going there!

1- LONDON:
If you are eating out with somebody else, do so in a pub as many “2 for 1” deals where you will get two main courses. It will cost around £7.

2- PARIS:
Try to plan your trip around the first Sunday of the month when all the city´s main museums have free entrance. This includes the Louvre, Museé d´Orsay and Museé d´Art Moderne in the Pompidou Centre.

3- BARCELONA:
Thanks to the work of Antoni Gaudi, Barcelona has some of the most unique architecture in the world. Try to spend at least one full day there just to admire it. It will not cost you anything!

4- ROME:
You must spend at least one full day to admire Rome, too. When eating there check to see if the restaurants have extra costs for service charge and they cover charge as some even may charge you extra taxes just for sitting down! Make sure to ask before ordering!

5- DUBLIN:
This is a fantastic destination. Try to spend one day visiting Dublin´s National Museums and art galleries which are free. This includes Museum of Natural History, the Museum of Modern Art, the Museum of Decorative Art and History and the National Gallery.

6- AMSTERDAM:
What else can I say about Amsterdam? This is the best and the most efficient mode of transport in Mother Earth´s ultimate city of sin is the trustworthy push-bike. You just have to spend €9, 00 on a day´s bike rental and it will be the best nine Euros you will spend in the Dutch capital.

7- PRAGUE:
It´s well known by its gorgeous landscapes. When going out at night, do not attempt to drink in the tourist areas around Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square. Go to the pubs out off the beaten track instead. You will find that drinks are a lot cheaper than in more commercial places.

8- VENICE:
Bring your empty water bottles to one of Venice´s wine shops. Here you can get them filled with quality wine from just €3, 00 per litre!

9- FLORENCE:
Don´t leave the city without visiting Piazzale Michelangelo. Located just 20 minutes walk from the Ponte Vecchio, it affords visitors the best views of Florence. The sunsets are unforgettable.

10- MADRID:
Some museums are free once a week in the Spanish capital. Two of the city´s main museums, Museo Del Prado and Museo Nacional Centro de Art Reina Sofia, are free every Sunday. Check listings for full details at the hotels front desk, museum´s entrance and most travel agencies.

11- BERLIN:
The beautiful Berlin welcomes all the tourists all year round. For the bird´s eye view of Berlin, try to visit the roof terrace at the Reichstag, the building where the German National Parliament sits. The terrace and glass dome offer breathtaking views over the city and admissions are absolutely free!

12- VIENNA:
Vienna´s ‘Staat-soper’ is one of the most famous opera houses in the world but you don´t have to be a member of Vienna´s bourgeoisie to see an opera there – queue up two hours before a performance and you will pick up a standing ticket for as little as
€3,50.

13- EDINBURGH:
Bring the key from your hostel down to ‘The Last Drop´s’ pub in the Grass-market area and you will get all meals costing €6,50 for €3,50, just for being a backpacker. It´s awesome!

14- MUNICH:
Museums owned by the City of Munich are free every Sunday. This includes the Glyptotheck with its collections of Greek and Roman Antiquities, and most of the world-class museums in Munich do the same.

15- BUDAPEST:
Entrance to Budapest´s Szechenyi Baths costs 2,300HUF, but only if you stay longer than 3 hours. Leave within 3 hours and you get 300HUF back, leave within 2 hours and get 700HUF back!

16- NICE:
If you visit Nice on the first or third weekend of the month and plan on visiting the Museum of Modern Art, leave your visit until Sunday. The museum has free entrances on the first and on the third Sunday of every month.

17- STOCKHOLM:
If you don´t fancy parting with few Kronor (Swedish local currency) to visit the Royal Palace, you should at least check out the “Changing of the Guard”. The ceremony can be seen weekdays and Saturdays at 12:15pm and at 1:15pm on Sundays.

18- INTERLAKEN:
Pick up the Interlaken Visitor´s Card which entitles you free transport on Interlaken´s bus network, discounts to many attractions and much more.

19- ATHENS:
Athens has many free museums. The best one is newly-opened Akropolis Museum beside Akropolis metro station, while others include the Epigraphical Museum and the Museum of Greek Costume. Not to mention the beautiful Greek landscape to admire and all the islands around.

20- MILAN:
When visiting the Duomo Cathedral, rather than getting the lift to get to the top, get the stairs. Not only will you get a bit of exercise, but you´ll save yourself a couple of Euros in the process!

21- BRUGES:
Visit the Church of Our Lady where Michelangelo´s sculpture ‘Madonna’ is and St Saviours Cathedral which has some of Europe´s most beautiful tapestries. Entrance to both places of worship is free.

22- SALZBURG:
Just like in Vienna, you can get cheap tickets to go and see a performance in the city´s Landestheater. Just queue up around one hour before the show and you will get tickets at a discounted price. The only difference is that these tickets are seating, not standing!

23- KRAKOW:
It is hard to think of a city with as much live music staged in its pubs and clubs as Krakow. All around Rynek Glówny are jazz clubs with free gigs, while indie and rock bands play free gigs in others. Fantastic entertainment.

24- GLASGOW:
Just like in other cities in the UK, all Glasgow´s main museums are free. This includes the Museum of Transport, the Gallery of Modern Art and the Scotland Street School Museum.

25- COPENHAGEN:
The city of Copenhagen provides over 1,300 free bikes for visitors from May to December. To use one just find one in the 125 City Biking Parking places which are dotted around the city centre, deposit a ( refundable ) DKK20 coin and cycle off all day long.

ONE LAST TIP:
PLACES TO STAY:
The cheapest way of staying in big cities, - the safest, the most practical and the most economical option, and always with good location and good rates - for this kind of trip are the hostels. To find and book the best option, location, and date access here: www.hostelworld.com
