TIPS FOR BUDGET TRIPS IN THE USA AND CANADA.

Here are my super tips when traveling in the United States and Canada. These are 21 fantastic destinations, all of them are great cities and they have the coolest attractions.

USA

NEW TORK CITY:
Take the free ferry to Staten Island and back. The round trip lasts about an hour and it provides all the visitors breathtaking views of lower Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty.

LOS ANGELES:
Take advantage of “free days” in different museums. The Museum of Contemporary Art is free every Thursday while Long Beach Museum of Art and Museum of Latin American Art are booth free on Fridays.

SAN FRANCISCO:
Walk across the Golden Gate Bridge, one f the most famous bridge in the world. Free for pedestrians, the walk takes about one hour and the views from the San Francisco Bay are unforgettable.

BOSTON:
You can save a few dollars by embarking on free guided walks of the Freedom Trail and the Black Heritage Trail. National Park Service Rangers are there to offer free tours of both walks. For more information on where and when tour groups depart, you can access and check out visiting this web site: http://www.nps.gov/

CHICAGO:
Most of Chicago´s museums have “free days” all year-round, while others have free days between certain months. Check with the museum visitors’ bureau before visiting and you might save few dollars.

SAN DIEGO:
Get your goggles and go snorkeling in La Jolla cove in the beautiful suburb of La Jolla. Visibility in the cove is excellent making it popular among both snorkelers and scuba divers.

LAS VEGAS:
Most casinos in Sin City will provide you with free food and drink once you are gambling there. So while you may lose some money at the blackjack table, you can save money on food and drink at the same time!

NEW ORLEANS:
Take a ride on the St. Charles Avenue streetcar, the oldest continually operating streetcar in America. The trip costs only US$ 1, 25 in each direction and offers visitors an astonishing tour of the historic uptown New Orleans.

WASHINGTON DC:
Washington DC has heaps of free attractions and these include all Smithsonian Museums, the memorials and government buildings, but best of all, the National Zoo!

MIAMI:
While Miami is synonymous with golden beaches, don´t leave without exploring the Art Deco District and my personal tip is going around Collins Avenue. Walk by its blue, yellow, pink and pale green buildings and you´ll feel as if you´re on a movie set from the 1950´s.

SEATTLE:
If your trip to Washington´s largest city is around the first Thursday of the month, good news – all of the city´s art museums will be free! Not to mention all the great city buildings, attractions and a great city views everywhere.

ORLANDO:
A good way of getting around downtown Orlando is on a free bus service called the “Lymmo”. Operating from early morning until late at night, there are 21 stops around the city center between Orlando Centroplex and City Hall.

PHILADELPHIA:
Known as the “birthplace of our nation”, Independence National Historic Park includes the Liberty Bell and the Independence Hall, the site of the singing of the declaration of Independence. Admissions to both places are free.

DALLAS:
Dallas´ historic M-Line Streetcar is absolutely free! This streetcar offers you a ride down McKinney Avenue to the city´s famous West End. It also leaves you within walking distance of Dallas Museum of Art.

CANADA

TORONTO:
One of Canada´s largest art Museums, the Art Gallery of Ontario can be found in Toronto. Here you will find over 66,000 works of art spanning from the 1st century to the present day. Entrance is free after 6pm every Wednesday.

VANCOUVER:
Vancouver has famous suspension bridge called “Capilano Suspension Bridge” (admission CA$ 26,95 ) But if you are trying to save some money, you can visit the Lynn Canyon suspension Bridge – it´s free and boasts just amazing views.

MONTREAL:
A single journey on Montreal´s bus /metro network costs CA$ 2.75. Rather than pay CA$ 16.50 for 6 different journeys, but a strip of 6 for CA$ 11.75 and save yourself almost five bucks!

CALGARY:
You can easily get a round trip air ticket from Seattle to Calgary. By doing so, you can take advantage of lower air fares on such discount airlines as Southwest, Frontier, America West and America Trans Air. Similarly, air fares may be cheaper by flying into and out of the same city. Air Canada and most major U.S. airlines serve both Vancouver and Calgary.

QUEBEC:
Traveling from Montreal to Quebec City by bus is fairly easy. It takes about 3 hours, and there are departures every hour on the hour. Once in Quebec City, you can choose to stop in Sainte-Foy. Visitors will find the university, malls and some hotels, or downtown Quebec, which is closer to the old city area. A round-trip for adults costs about CA$ 75,00. The main advantage of traveling by bus compared with traveling by train is that it's much cheaper (about half-price) and there are more departures every day. You don't have to make a reservation either; they'll bring in an extra bus if they have too many passengers, so no worries whatsoever!

WINNIPEG:
Located in central Canada, Winnipeg is the capital of Manitoba and plays an important role in finance, transportation, manufacturing, agriculture and education in the country. It is the gateway between Eastern and Western Canada. It’s the perfect city to visit, with a warm and tranquil vibe that will help you get away from hectic city life. Although Winnipeg is quite modern, the old country flavor is still abundant with an array of vintage boutiques, charming restaurants, bakeries and butcher shops.

OTTAWA:
The city of Ottawa is a charismatic, yet modest metropolis. The focus in town is Parliament Hill; however this political town is filled with a vibrant energy thanks to the nationally renowned universities present there, ushering in some of the country’s brightest youth.
Whether your interest is culture, history or simply natural outdoor attractions, Canada’s Capital city offers a unique combination of both. Once in Ottawa, you will fall in love with its atmosphere.
